CVD Update: Short Course
The Department of Health recently announced that the ambitious targets for reducing CHD deaths set in 2000 at the launch of the NSF for CHD are likely to be exceeded. However the focus of attention is now switching to vascular disease as a whole. The importance of stroke management has been given a new priority and obesity and diabetes levels are rising exponentially. Health care practitioners need to be aware of recent developments so that they can offer the best care and support to their patients. With cardiovascular disease making up nearly half the clinical points for practices in the new QoF, financial incentives are also an important consideration.
