Atrial Fibrillation: Short Course
(Locally Delivered)
Atrial fibrillation has been described as ‘a new epidemic’. Affecting 500,000 patients in the UK, its incidence increases by 5% every year. As a common and largely preventable cause of stroke it is vital that staff know how to identify and manage the condition correctly.
The publication of chapter 8 of the National Service framework for coronary heart disease (DH, 2005) and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence guidelines (NICE,2006) have highlighted the importance of individualized case management in the treatment of AF.
