Asthma is a common disease of childhood. It currently affects about 1 in 7 children and its prevalence is increasing. Wheezing illness is an important cause of respiratory distress in the young child, while asthma symptoms disrupt the lives of many older children and their families, causing them to limit their activities and lose time from school. This module is appropriate for healthcare professionals working in primary or secondary care.
