This module will enable health professionals to develop their asthma knowledge further. Asthma issues are looked at more critically and in greater depth and there is less emphasis on the practical aspects of setting up asthma services. Asthma will be related to the broader health issues that are facing both people with asthma and health professionals. It may be preferable to have had some assessed asthma education prior to embarking on this module.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module, you will be able to:
- Critically analyse the prevalence and causes of asthma
- Critically examine the environmental factors in the onset of asthma
- Critically examine the link between allergy and asthma
- Critically assess the effects of asthma on the respiratory tract, including the upper airways
- Select and justify methods for diagnosing asthma in patients of different ages
