Asthma is a very common disease of childhood and currently affects about 1 in 7 children and its prevalence is increasing. Asthma symptoms can disrupt the lives of children and often causes them to limit activity and lose time from school.
COPD is the 5th most common cause of death. It is thought to be under diagnosed by as much as 25%. One of the more alarming statistics is that there are estimated to be as many as 2.5 million people who have this chronic disease and don't know it.
Aim of short course
This new one day practical Asthma and COPD Update is designed to provide health professionals with a comprehensive overview of the management of both areas and new information around guidance, management and treatments. The day is suitable for all health professionals working with respiratory patients and who have a vital role to play in implementing the new BTS/SIGN evidence based guideline for asthma.
